ReVive by Triad: A “Uniquely Boston” Solution for City of Boston Credit Union

Skyscrapers, larger-than-life bridges, and picturesque streets—how do you bring the outside in? Keep reading to see how ReVive by Triad brought City of Boston Credit Union’s tagline, “Uniquely Boston,” to life.

The Ask

City of Boston Credit Union (COBCU)—a Boston-based credit union trusted for over a century—needed a new home when it acquired the former Northeastern University Federal Credit Union.

The new branch would welcome Northeastern’s previous credit union members, and also open its membership to a broader audience, with its Westland Ave. location right next to Boston’s Symphony Hall. It needed to be modern yet welcoming. We rolled up our sleeves and got to work.

The Branding Solution

Featuring a teller pod, two ITMs (Interactive Teller Machines), a café, a lounge area, a conference room, and private offices, the branch holds the perfect balance of familiar and modern. Check out our 360 for a complete view of this innovative branch.

Our ReVive by Triad team of project managers, artists, and writers provided the branding and artwork for the space, with architecture and construction provided by NES Group’s DRL Architects team. We used the credit union logo as inspiration for clean-cut, modern designs and Boston’s most beloved places as an opportunity to add warmth. Angular light patterns and frosted glass designs pay homage to the logo’s Zakim bridge on the walls and windows. Hand-painted instruments carry the sounds of Symphony Hall and pay tribute to the branch’s neighbor. Cityscapes wrap the ITMs, with a nod to the location’s original Northeastern University heritage. And a grand art installation inspired by Boston sports, featuring real sports equipment, welcomes new and current members to a bank they want to spend time visiting.

The Results

This branch turned out to be truly one-of-a-kind and exceeded the credit union’s goals. The branch now has the technology and inviting member experience to thrive in this ever-changing industry.
